Saturday night it was cold, it was slippery and I did not want to go out. But I try pretty hard to make it out to at least one show a week, so I left my warm house and dragged myself out to the Back Page in Lowell.
And oh, am I glad I did.
Lydia Warren Band is exactly what I want to be listening to on a cold Lowell night. This trio is seriously talented. Front woman Lydia Warren is nothing short of dreamy. And did I mention this chick can wail? This fair skinned, almost fragile looking woman opened her mouth and out came this incredibly powerful, raw blues sound that transported my bourbon and I to a far off place…like Chicago. Coupled with an old soul’s understanding of blues guitar this little lady really rocked my socks.
So check out Lydia Warren Band’s MusicIDB page, and also their latest album Hotel Beds available for download on their website.
And check out The Back Page in Lowell for live jazz and blues nightly. The sexy speakeasy aesthetic is not only a great place to go with friends or a date, but also a low lit sneaky little hideaway if you just need to get away by yourself.
